In Loving Memory of Denise Helou
January 26, 1955 – March 26, 2025
Denise Helou was born on January 26, 1955, in El Cajon, California, and passed away peacefully in Carson City, Nevada, on March 26, 2025, at the age of 70.
She was the beloved wife of the late Nassim Helou, with whom she shared over 40 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving life in Beaverton before moving to Southern California and eventually settling in Nevada. Denise and Nassim had two daughters, Vanessa and Leila, and Denise was also a devoted stepmother to Laurel, Julie, Joseph, Nassim, and Charlene. She poured her love equally into all her children and was especially proud of the family they built together.
Denise is preceded in death by her husband Nassim, her daughter Laurel Helou, her mother "CC," and her father Marvin. She is survived by her sister Kathy, her children Julie, Joseph, Nassim, Charlene, Vanessa, and Leila, as well as her beloved niece Christine and nephew Scotty. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, niece, and nephew.
Denise had a kind and generous spirit. She was an avid crafter and especially loved sewing—creating handmade clothing and baby blankets that became cherished keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. Her hands were always busy with love.
A wonderful cook (though she would modestly admit baking wasn’t her strength), Denise had a way of transforming simple ingredients into unforgettable meals, always shared with joy and generosity. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and comfort.
Denise had a deep love for travel. She explored far and wide, from Lebanon and Egypt to France, Mexico, and across the United States, with a special fondness for visiting national parks, museums, zoos, and flower gardens. These adventures were even more meaningful when shared with friends and family.
In her later years, Denise found deep friendship and joy in spending time with her dear friends Debi, Robby, and Ingrid. Music was another lifelong passion of hers—she had a taste for timeless classics and never hesitated to turn up the volume on Eric Clapton, Elton John, Patsy Cline, Rod Stewart, The Beatles, Jimmy Buffett, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis, Nat King Cole, and many more. Whether at home or in the car, she believed music was meant to be felt and shared.
Denise’s life was marked by love, creativity, resilience, and a quiet strength. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, cherished memories, and handmade treasures that will continue to wrap her loved ones in comfort for years to come.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
